Dr. Hayes specialises in both straightforward and complex cataract surgery. He also specialises in laser vision surgery for patients whose glasses don’t suit their lifestyle. Options for lenses are seemingly limitless, as The Vision Surgeon accesses a wide range of premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) across brands and models. Dr. Hayes takes pride in understanding patients’ personal requirements when recommending IOLs. He also takes a special interest in and has acquired additional training in the management of corneal conditions, pterygium, and glaucoma.

Following rigorous medical school and ophthalmology training in Queensland, he earned an international graduate diploma in cornea, refractive, and lens surgery. Dr. Hayes also retains prestigious leadership positions, as a senior medical officer at Brisbane’s Mater Public Hospital and as a Lecturer at The University of Queensland. Additionally, Dr. Hayes has published numerous papers and presentations in both Australian and international journals.
